A non-profit organization expanded its assistance by launching a new program to support people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

A spokesperson from the Arc of the Quad Cities said on Thursday, February 13, 2014 a ribbon cutting was held as the ASD room officially opened. The ASD Program was designed for people who receive services at Opportunity Center in Moline.

The new room features low diffused lighting, open spaces, comfortable seating, and access to devices for sensory integration.

“The Arc is on the front lines to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families have the support they need to be members of the community,” said a spokesperson from the organization.

The program is funded by the Wilber L. Burress Endowment.
