Quad Cities Fast Pitch is launching a new business idea competition. Scott and Rock Island County residents are eligible to enter.

Contest organizers are looking for ideas in the following categories: Manufacturing/Industrial, Web/Technology, Retail/Service, and Restaurant/Entertainment.

The competition is a process of three stages. The first stage is an open application period that lasts through March 15. Contestants choose a category and submit their ideas through writing.

The second stage is a 10 minute presentation given by five semi-finalists chosen from each of the four categories. Presentations will be given in April at the Quad Cities Fast Pitch event hosted by Augustana College and News 8.

Lastly, four category winners will be chosen from the presentations and will be required to present in front of an audience. A grand prize winner will be chosen from the four finalists.

The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 cash as well as thousands of dollars worth of in-kind business services. Three category semi-finalists will get $1,000 cash and in-kind services.

The contest’s cash prize is sponsored by the Riverboat Development Authority.
