A mom harnessed the power of social media to grant her son’s birthday wish.

Ten-year-old Colin, who has Asperger’s Syndrome and other health problems, told his mom there was no point in organizing a party to celebrate his 11th birthday because he has no friends.

Mom to the rescue.

“I am Colin’s mom, I created this page for my amazing, wonderful, challenging son who is about to turn 11 on March 9th,” read a post on the “Happy Birthday Colin” Facebook page his mom created.

The post said Colin eats lunch alone in the office because other kids won’t let him sit with them.

“(R)ather than force someone to be unhappy with his presence, he sits alone in the office.  So I thought, if I could create a page where people could send him positive thoughts and encouraging words, that would be better than any birthday party,” the post said.

Mom, who was only identified as Jennifer, started the page February 2, 2014 according to WOOD-TV.  She was hoping to get about 50 responses from friends and family.

As of Wednesday afternoon, February 12, the Facebook page had more than 1.3 million likes.

Jennifer set up a Post Office box to receive cards people wanted to send to Colin.   The Facebook page showed people from all over the U.S. and from locations including Rome, Taiwan and Australia wishing Colin a happy birthday.

The address she posted is:

Colin-
PO box 756
Richland, MI 49083-0756

Colin’s birthday is March 9.
