Repair crews planned to shut down a water main affecting businesses and residences south of Kimberly Road near Eastern Avenue in Davenport, Iowa.
A spokesperson for Iowa American Water said they discovered a leaking valve at Eastern Avenue and Kimberly Road on Monday morning, February 10, 2014.
Before 9:30 a.m., repair crews were shutting down the water main there.
"It will affect some businesses and residences south of Kimberly Road on Eastern Avenue," the spokesperson said. The affected area included Northgate Shopping Center.
Water service was expected to be restored later Monday.
Northbound lanes of Eastern Avenue will also be closed by repair crews, and that closure was expected to last several days. Traffic will still be open, with one lane for each direction of travel using the southbound lanes.
