The winter conditions are making things difficult for public works crews in Moline.
City workers say they have had a record number of water main breaks this season. Moline crews say they've had 61 breaks so far this season. Their previous record was the 2002-2003 season, when they had 51 breaks.
The city had two water main breaks on Sunday, February 9th and Monday, February 10th, 2014. The first one happened at the corner of 47th Street and 11th Avenue B around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Crews had to dig a six-foot hole in the ground to stop the break. About 20 residents in that block are under a boil order for at least a day.
The second break happened at the corner of 49th Street and 12th Avenue in Moline. That is just three blocks away from the first break. Crews had to close one lane of traffic down on 12th Avenue East while they cleared the street.
A water main break was also issued in the village of Milan Monday. Meanwhile in Davenport, crews responded to a water valve leak Monday also.
