It was a sign of spring to come as hundreds of families signed their kids up for youth baseball and softball teams in Davenport.

Saturday, February 8, 2014 was Little League Registration Day at Modern Woodmen Park. About 1,500 families arrived at the ballpark to register.

While families were at the ballpark, they got the opportunity to learn about the Quad Cities River Bandits.

“This is a good indication that spring is around the bend and we’re looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the baseball season coming up,” said President of Davenport Youth Baseball, Dennis Hill.

“We’re going on all cylinders here, so we’re finalizing our promotional schedule and getting everything ready and hoping that all this snow clears up,” said River Bandits General Manager, Andrew Chesser.

Opening Day is Thursday, April 3.
