A group of volunteers from the Quad Cities brought food to those in need.

On Saturday, February 8, 2014 the Junior League of the Quad Cities ran a mobile food pantry at Jefferson Edison Elementary School. The River Bend Foodbank provided the food, and the league got more than 30 people to volunteer.

The purpose of their efforts was to distribute food to families who were unable to get the foodbank’s headquarters in Moline.

“It’s very important for my students and my families to have an opportunity to be served in any way in any capacity,” said Jefferson Edison Elementary School Principal, Christie Pitts. “We have a lot of families that might not have transportation, so this is a close site for them.”

The Junior League’s mission is to promote volunteerism and help train women to become community leaders.
