Soup-er Bowl Sunday at Ski Snowstar helps local food pantries

Skiing at discount prices and helping feed the hungry, sounded like a win-win on Super Bowl Sunday.

Skiing at discount prices and helping feed the hungry, sounded like a win-win on Super Bowl Sunday.

February 2, 2014 was Soup-Er Bowl Sunday at Ski Snowstar in Andalusia. They helped out local food pantries by offering discounted lift tickets for skiers and snowboarders who brought a can of soup to donate.

According to Ski Snowstar’s General Manager Ed Meyer, anyone who brought food to donate got a lift ticket for $20 as opposed to the usual $34. He said it’s nice to be able to give back to the community and raise awareness of what local food pantries do for the community.

“It’s good to give people a chance to come out and save some money and also gives the local food pantry the opportunity to feed some people in need of good meals,” Meyer said.

Ski Snowstar’s website suggested residents come out early to enjoy some winter sports and still have plenty of time to get to their Super Bowl parties.
