An event taking place in the Quad Cities this weekend is proving that golf is not a seasonal sport. It's an all-season sport.

The Wendy's Chili Golf Open takes place Saturday, February 1st, 2014 at Red Hawk Golf Course in Davenport. The 9-hole tournament takes place outside, with chili served inside after your round is over.

Mark Hamilton, the Sports Supervisor for the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department, says the event has been going on for more than 20 years.

"It started out as a putt-putt - a really small event and it's just grown into what it is today."

"It's definitely a lot of hardcore golfers that are ready," he says. "April doesn't come soon enough for these people and you can't blame them. It's a lot of fun and we do have a lot of novice golfers that come to have a great time and enjoy the day."

Hamilton says tee times are still available. You have until 10pm on Friday, January 31st, 2014 to sign up. To do so, call or visit The River's Edge in Davenport. For contact information, click here.
