Icy road conditions contributed to wrecks that closed all lanes of the Centennial Bridge and blocked part of the I-74 Bridge for about an hour and a half.
Crashes were reported on both bridges before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014.
By 7 a.m., police announced they would close all lanes in both directions to clear traffic from the Centennial Bridge so they could try to treat it to improve travel conditions.
The Centennial Bridge reopened traffic just before 8 a.m.
Drivers that tried using the I-74 bridge to travel Illinois-bound had trouble as well, after a wreck blocked the left lane of traffic as it approached the bridge in Bettendorf. The backup was at least to Middle Road.
I-74 traffic was still heavy and backed up but moving by 8 a.m.
Davenport Police said injuries to people involved in the Centennial Bridge crash at the Davenport end of the bridge were minor.
