Quad City area school districts are adding days on to the end of their school year because of the cold weather.

Dozens of area districts cancelled class for Monday, January 27th, 2014. District leaders say that they often cancel school when they're concerned their buses won't start. Students will now have to make up those days at the end of their school year.

Bettendorf Community school officials say they've added three school days onto the end of their year. The last day for elementary and middle school students will now be Monday, June 2nd, 2014. High school students will go through Thursday, June 29th. That could change if the area gets more snow and freezing weather.

Davenport Community school officials say they will have to make up another two to three days at the end of their school year. They will likely now have to go to school during the last week of May.

The situation is very similar on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities. Moline Schools will be going through Thursday, June 5th. Rock Island school officials say they will now be going through at least Monday, June 9th. School districts in Illinois only have to make up five days that they miss during the year.
