On a cold Sunday morning, you can see dozens of people running up and down the stairs of the Davenport Skybridge.
Every Sunday, a group gets together for the “Step Challenge.” Their goal for January is to climb 10,182 stairs – the equivalent of hiking up to the top of the four tallest buildings in the U.S. Only upward stairs count.
“Winter is usually the time that everybody wants to stay inside because it’s usually really cold out,” says Organizer, Michael Kinney. “Bringing their friends keeps everyone motivated to come. They’re not going to lay on the couch all weekend and do nothing.”
Kinney says the Sunday morning workouts have gotten so popular that they’re going to continue them after January. The group meets at 10 a.m.
