Local Woman Going to President’s State of the Union Address

A Galesburg woman has been invited to attend the State of the Union Address.

"She's the face of what we're fighting for."

That's how Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-Illinois) describes Pamela Davidson, Bustos' Guest to President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address.

Representative Bustos revealed her choice on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 at her Rock Island office.

Davidson is involved with the NAACP as well as the United Automobile Workers (UAW). She is from Galesburg, Illinois and started working for John Deere after losing her job at Maytag.

Rep. Bustos says she chose Davidson because she represents the middle class.

"She's giving back. She lost her job and rebounded."

"It's just an honor that Cheri thought to think of me," Davidson said. "I'm estatic."

Davidson says she hopes President Obama talks about his plans to help the middle class and turn around the unemployment rate.

The State of the Union is Tuesday, January 28th, 2014.
