Police: Man armed with knife tried to rob Kewanee store

Police were searching for a man who allegedly tried to rob a Shell Station in Kewanee, Illinois.

A store surveillance camera captured an image of the man who reportedly tried – but failed – to rob the store at 511 S. Main Street Friday morning, January 24, 2014.

Police said the man went into the store and waited for other customers to leave.  He was reportedly armed with a knife when he then approached the counter and demanded money.

When he didn’t get any money, the man reportedly left the store in a small red car.  The car was last seen on West Prospect Street.

No  injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the attempted robbery is asked to call Henry County Crime Stoppers at (800) 227-2324.  Tips that lead to a felony arrest could be eligible for a cash reward.
