Two people were injured after a fire in Buffalo, Iowa Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014.

It happened at the corner of 2nd and Hacker around 4:15 a.m. Heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the home for more than an hour.

A woman who was inside the home suffered second- to third-degree burns to her hands and face according to Buffalo Fire Chief Terry Adams.  The woman was airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City.

A firefighter was also injured when part of the ceiling fell on him.  Adams said he thought the firefighter would be okay.

"The living room ceiling came down and injured one of my fire fighters," Adams said. "At the same time, we had a report of the occupant being out in a car that was out in the street. We had EMS come and take care of her. Then we found out she was severely burned on her face."

The cause of the fire was not yet released. Crews do not expect foul play.
