Residents escape Geneseo house fire

Fire heavily damaged a home in Geneseo but no one was hurt.

The fire was reported at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at a home in the 600 block of N. State Street.

Firefighters said the home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.  Atkinson firefighters were called in to help fight the fire.

A spokesperson for the Geneseo Fire Department said the house is divided into two apartments and that five people live there.  The Red Cross was offering help to the residents displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
