A Rock Island man whose body was found near Sunset Marina died of hypothermia.
That is the preliminary report after an autopsy was performed on Steven Califf on Wednesday, January 22, 2014.
Califf was last seen leaving his home on 19th Street in Rock Island the morning of January 2. He never returned, and he was reported missing on January 7.
Califf’s body was found along the shore of the Mississippi River in the 1800 block of Sunset Lane on Monday, January 20.
An online obituary said Mr.Califf graduated from Dixon High School and from Augustana College.
The obituary for Mr. Califf said visitation was planned one hour prior to memorial services set for 11 a.m. Saturday, January 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church or to Transitions Mental Health Services.
Steven Califf was 43 years old.
