A high school basketball team attributes their recent successes to their big picture mentality.

The Fort Madison Boys Basketball team is undefeated and ranked 8th in the state in class 3A. The head coach Jon Schmitz said the seniors are a big key to their winnings.

“This year’s success I would attribute to our seniors,” said Schmitz.

Team members say that they try to stay humble and realize they need to work hard to keep their high status.

The 2013-2014 season has been quite a turnaround from previous years.

“We’ve had pretty good practices all year round,” said team member Wesley Bernhardt. “Everyone’s playing hard, everyone’s showing up to lifting, and everyone’s getting to practice on time so everyone’s doing their part.”

Schmitz said the team is very coachable. They accept the lessons and move on to the next task.
