A construction project was approved on a portion of John Deere Road in Moline.

According to a spokesperson from the Office of Governor Pat Quinn, work on John Deere Road between I-74 and 38th Street will include a two-span plate girder bridge with a concrete deck, traffic signals, and widening in the area.

McCarthy Improvement Company of Davenport, Iowa will be working on the construction and will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation.  The project costs more than $16.2 million.

“These improvements throughout Moline will create additional jobs and ensure our roads remain safe to travel,” said Illinois Senator Mike Jacobs. “These improvements span from stabilizing bridges to widening roads for quicker travel throughout the district and will increase the overall economic development and job development throughout the area.”

The project is part of the Illinois Jobs Now! Program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. The program is the largest capital construction program in the state’s history.
