A former worker at the Illinois Youth Center in Kewanee is accused of having sexual contact with a boy held in the facility in 2013.

Erika Klint Blackman, 31, was arrested and formally charged Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Henry County, Illinois.  Blackman faces three counts of custodial sexual misconduct.  Police say Blackman is from Burlington, Iowa.

The charges stem from allegations that Blackman had sexual contact with a juvenile offender, held at IYC in Kewanee, three separate times in August and September 2013 while Blackman worked at the facility.

The IYC is a medium-security facility for juvenile males.

State records list Blackman as a juvenile justice special intern at IYC in Kewanee.  She was last issued a paycheck from the State of Illinois on October 15, 2013.  An online resume attributed to Blackman says she “provided security and counseling to youth” at the facility from May to October 2013.

Jail records show Blackman was held in the Henry County Jail for less than 12 hours before being released following posting 10% of her $3,000 bond.
