Compared to the previous year, 2013 was a productive year for Illinois crops.

According to a summary by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the production of most Illinois crops surpassed 2012 productions. Crops like corn, winter wheat, oats, and hay were estimated to yield more than the previous year. Illinois was the largest soybean producer in the nation in 2013.

The USDA reported that Illinois ranked second in corn production behind Iowa. 2013 was the third highest yield and production total on record.
