Police say a Bushnell, Illinois man died when the snowmobile he was operating crashed into a wire fence.

The crash was reported just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 on property in the 800 block of N. Walnut Street near the high school in Bushnell, which is in McDonough County.

State Police said 22-year-old Logan Lear was driving a 2001 Bombardier Ski Doo 700 in the dark with no headlamp.

The snowmobile crashed into a woven wire fence that had a strand of barbed wire along the top of the fence.

“Lear received fatal injuries as a result of the crash,” said ISP Trooper Dan Hill.
