Police say they have arrested two teens sought in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old in Galesburg.

Javon Butler died after he was shot in the area of Holton Street and Monmouth Boulevard just before 9 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013.  Butler was a sophomore at Galesburg High School.

Police said then that arrest warrants were issued for 15-year-old Brandon Kenney and 18-year-old Alex Horton.  Kenney was accused of first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm, and his warrant showed bond set at $1 million.  Horton was accused of possession of a firearm by a felon, and bond on his warrant was set at $250,000.

Galesburg Police said Horton was arrested by U.S. marshals at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at his home in Galesburg.   Online jail records showed Horton was held in the Knox County Jail.

Kenney remained at large.

In an update issued Friday, January 3, police said Kenney was arrested by U.S. marshals at a home in Galesburg that day.  He was held in the Knox County Jail.

(editor's note:  Authorities previously reported Kenney was 18 years old, with a birthdate of March 9, 1995.  A spokesperson for Galesburg Police said Friday, January 3, 2014 that Kenney was actually 15 years old, with a birthdate of March 9, 1998.)
