The Davenport City Council will have two new members at its committee meeting Thursday, January 2nd, 2014.

It's the first public meeting for the two members, Keri Tompkins of the eighth ward and Rick Dunn of the first ward. Tompkins replaces Mike Matson, who is now alderman in the 7th Ward, because of redistricting. Barney Barnhill was in the 7th Ward, but he will now be in the 5th Ward.

In the first ward, Rick Dunn takes over for former alderman Nathan Brown. Brown decided not to run in the municipal elections in November. The first ward is in the southwest corner of the city. That's where a fire destroyed the Credit Island Lodge back in May of 2013.

No agenda items will be approved at the meeting Thursday, but it starts at 5:30 p.m. at Davenport's City Hall. Gene Meeker has also lost his spot as chair of the Community Development Committee. Bill Boom now takes over his place.
