The family of Carrie Olson tell News 8 that a man Carrie knows, who was seen with her car early Sunday morning at a 7-Eleven in Rock Island, has returned to the Quad Cities with Carrie’s car.
Family members say Carrie’s purse was inside the car, but no cell phone or wallet.
Family members say the man was questioned by police for four hours into the early morning hours of Friday, January 3rd and then released.
Two search efforts were planned by friends hoping to discover clues about what happened to Carrie Olson of Davenport.
According to the Facebook Page "Find Carrie Olson," friends planned to lead two search efforts on Friday, January 3rd, 2014.
One was planned to take place at the Black Hawk State Historic Site at noon in Rock Island. The other was planned for 1:30 p.m. at Credit Island in Davenport.
Carrie Olson, 29, was last seen around 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 28th at the 7-Eleven on 38th Street and 18th Avenue in Rock Island, according to her father Dave Olson. He says a surveillance camera recorded her getting gas and wearing an Iowa Hawkeye sweatshirt. The family also describes Carrie as 5'8" and 190lbs with green eyes and sandy brown hair or brown hair with highlights.
Between 6:30 and 7 a.m. Sunday, December 29th, Dave says the camera captured video of a man getting gas again in Carrie's car. The videos do not clearly show if there was anyone else in the car at the time.
Dave says the man is Carrie's friend and they have contacted him.
"He's presently out of town in Las Vegas and we can't get a lot of information out of him yet. He's supposed to be back in town so the police can question him," Dave said.
Dave says he first knew something wasn't right on Monday, December 30th. He owns Dave's Floor Trends in Davenport and says Carrie works there as well, but she didn't show up for the Monday morning meeting.
"I was trying to find out where she was, if she was sick or whatever for the day, and she was no where to be found. So, we started doing an investigation and all of a sudden nobody knew where she was at," he said.
"There's something wrong, but we don't know what," Dave said.
On Wednesday, January 1st, a Facebook page was created called "Find Carrie Olson." Friends and family are using it to share information.
One post read - "Her phone sent a signal from Camden Park Saturday in Milan, Il. It may have been ditched there. Please keep alert on trails and parks for anything unusual in Milan, Rock Island near river or woods. Hopefully official searches will begin tomorrow."
A group searched Camden Park on Thursday, January 2nd, but say they didn't find anything.
"Everybody is trying to help out," Dave said. "We don't really have a direction to go, though."
"My hope is that she's fine. But she hasn't used her credit cards and so she hasn't spent any money, and she hasn't used her phone so we kind of suspect some sort of foul play," Dave said.
Davenport Police haven't put out an official "Adult Missing Persons" report yet, but they say the investigation is ongoing. The Iowa Department of Public Safety's Missing Person Information Clearinghouse has a picture of Carrie Olson posted on their homepage here.
