It's a new year with new changes and for one davenport couple, it's being parents for the first time. They welcome their son, the first Quad City baby of 2014.

Parents Kinsey Miller and Blake Heitman sit back and look at their newborn son in awe.

"Kind of still just speechless and really happy though," said dad, Heitman.

Jaxsten is the couples first child and the Quad cities first baby of 2014.

"We'll always remember it, you know he's like a superstar, " said mom, Miller.

With a new year comes new changes, changes that little baby Jaxsten with grow up with.

"I just want him to be older, like one, I can't wait for him to like learn things," said Miller.

The first change being gay marriage is allowed in 16 states. The newest state added is Illinois. The new law will go into effect June 1, 2014.

Then if ever traveling to Colorado, he can buy and smoke Marijuana legally. Colorado became the first state in the nation where small amounts of the drug can be sold in specialty shops.

However, driving through Illinois, Jaxsten will have to make sure he's not caught talking on his cellphone, only hands-free devices are allowed.

Despite our country's financial problems, the U.S Congress is still more popular than Miley Cyrus.

He can bet there will be a new I-phone or some type of tablet invented and if Doc Brown was right, the Chicago Cubs will beat Miami in the 2015 World series.

All in all through the good and the bad changes, Jaxsten can be sure that his parents will be right by his side.

"I just can't wait to be able to be home wit him and you know just having him with me all the time," said Heitman.

Baby Jaxsten was born at 12:31 a.m at Trinity in Bettendorf. He weighed six pounds and seven ounces. He also has a full head of hair. He was born a couple days before his due date.
