Those who shopped on "Super Saturday," the second busiest shopping day of the year, not only had to rush against the clock – they had to beat the winter storm.
Just four days before Christmas, a winter storm is expected to hit the Quad Cities area – dumping up to eight inches of snow for some areas.
During the early afternoon hours, lines of customers packed the Best Buy in Moline.
One of those families in line was the Hauser’s who were finishing their Christmas shopping.
“We didn’t really have much to do so we said we better get it done today,” said Sheryl Hauser.
The Hauser’s started their shopping early Saturday morning. By 2p.m., they were shopping at Best Buy in Moline -- one of their last stops of the day.
“The parking lots were really full which made it hard to get in where you wanted to be,” Sheryl said.
As the sun began to set and the freezing rain began to start – the long lines started to dissipate.
Stores like Toys R Us and Kohls are open around-the-clock until Christmas Eve. But with the large winter storm that’s hammering several states in the Midwest; some analysts are predicting the sales numbers on this Super Saturday to not be so super.
And for those who didn’t get their shopping done Saturday; they may have to put it off even longer.
One of those who still need to finish shopping for his Christmas list is Jason Moseley.
“If we get the snow they are predicting, I may have to delay my shopping” said Jason Moseley.
As the shopping season winds down – the Quad City Area is almost certain to have a white Christmas.
