Police say there is a connection between the arrest of a Blue Grass man and fire that broke out in his home after he was arrested.

Johnny Garcia, 27, was arrested early Thursday morning, December 19, 2013, after he allegedly pointed a gun at his roommate at their home in the 100 block of Garonne in Blue Grass, Iowa.  Jail records show Garcia was booked into the Scott County Jail at about 4:30 a.m.

"Shortly after the arrest and shortly after Deputies left the residence, the residence caught fire," said a spokesman for the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

The roommate, who was the alleged victim from the earlier incident, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation suffered in the fire.

The cause and estimated damage of the fire were not yet released.

Garcia was held in the Scott County Jail on one misdemeanor count of domestic abuse assault with a weapon.  His bond was set at $2,000.
