A 20-year-old Davenport man was in custody following the homicide of a 24-year-old man in Rock Island Wednesday.

Police booked Aaron Henderson into the Scott County Jail at 7:45 p.m. A spokesperson for the Scott County Sheriff's Department told News 8 he was arrested on a warrant stemming from Rock Island for murder in the first degree and attempted robbery.

Held on a $1 million cash bond, Henderson's scheduled to appear in court Thursday before he can be extradited back to Illinois to be formally charged.

Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was shot in a Rock Island home.

According to the Rock Island Police Department, on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 police received a report of shots fired on 16th Ave. near Douglas Park around noon. Officers discovered that a 24-year-old man had been shot. He later died from his injuries.

"The victim had sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was transported from the scene by the Rock Island Fire Department," said a spokesperson from the Rock Island Police Department.

Police said the victim's name has not been released pending notification of family.
