Iowa woman surrenders after $6,000 diamond ring theft

A Des Moines woman reportedly turned herself in to police after an airport surveillance camera captured video of her allegedly stealing a diamond ring.

A Des Moines woman reportedly turned herself in to police after an airport surveillance camera captured video of her allegedly stealing a diamond ring.

Police said Stephani Yurash, of Los Angeles, was in the Des Moines International Airport Monday, December 9, 2013 when she took off her diamond ring and set it on a table.  As Yurash gathered her belongings, she forgot the ring.

Surveillance video shows only a few seconds pass before another woman, later identified at 51-year-old Tina Cram of Des Moines, appears to collect something from the table and quickly leave.

WHO-TV reports officials say Cram watched Yurash leave and then took the ring.  Police said Cram told them she planned to keep the ring.

Cram’s husband reportedly recognized her when surveillance video of the incident was widely broadcast after the theft.

Cram was charged with second-degree theft after she was booked into the Polk County Jail on Monday, December 16.  She reportedly turned herself in to authorities.

Cram was held in lieu of $5,000 bond.  Online jail records show she was already released on bond.
