A St. Peters, Missouri, father who has been deaf for more than 50 years was finally able to hear his daughter’s voice.

“I knew he was getting a hearing aid, but I didn’t know if it was going to work,” daughter Ashley Stehle said.

The hearing aid is new technology that had only available for about a year.  Ashley wears a special microphone, which transmits to a receiver connected to her dad’s hearing aid.

To make the moment extra special, Ashely surprised her father by singing her first solo.

The song she chose?

Mariah Carey’s “Christmas,” which Ashley sang as “Daddy, Please Come Home for Christmas.”

“He was just closing his eyes and listening to my voice,” Ashley recalled.  It was a voice he had never heard before.

“It’s amazing,” Ken Stehle said. “I had goosebumps all over me I’m very proud of my daughter.”
