To help out a coach going through a medical battle, St. Ambrose University held a benefit soccer camp.

On Sunday, December 15, 2013 a soccer camp fundraiser was held to benefit Mike Davis, the former women’s soccer coach. He was diagnosed recently with a severe infection and has undergone a series of surgeries.

In addition to coaching, Davis dedicated a lot of his time to youth soccer in the Quad Cities.

“Anything we can do to help him is always going to be a benefit,” said Emlyn Jacoby, assistant men’s soccer coach at SAU. “He’s a great guy, good coach, and he just means a lot to the soccer community as you can see with the turn out and what he’s done.”

Organizers said that all donations collected from the camp will go toward Davis’ medical costs.
