Pets are helping pets in and around the Quad Cities.

On Saturday, December 14, 2013, King's Harvest Pet Rescue held a fundraiser that allowed dogs and cats to get a picture taken with Santa for a $5 donation.

The event took place at PetSmart on Elmore Avenue in Davenport.

Jan Sawvell, with King's Harvest Pet Ministry, says the proceeds help their volunteer organization's pet food bank, spay and neuter program, and their shelter which houses pets of the homeless and low-income residents in our area.

"We have over 30 adult adoptable cats at the pet rescue now and around 10 or 15 kittens so it's really important that they find a loving home," Sawvell said.

The ministry has an assortment of the pets up for adoption at the new PetSmart in Moline. Sawvell says they will be there through the end of the year.
