A local business partnered with the Girl Scouts of the Quad Cities to give young girls some holiday fun.

An annual holiday party was held at Girl Scout Program Center in Rock Island on Saturday, December 7, 2013 and for the third year running Ganson’s was on board to help out.

“We are incredibly grateful to Ganson’s for their generosity in helping us with this celebration,” said Senior Outreach Membership Manager Missy Sweeney.

Santa and Mrs. Claus were on site, along with an elf who helped hand out goody bags. Each girl in attendance received a gift.

“We’re very excited about Christmas this year, especially when we do our outreach party,” Sweeney said. “Just to see the girls smile when they open their presents is really rewarding for us.”

Heidi Harrell, Outreach Manager for the QC area, said that the party allows girls who don’t get much of a Christmas experience to really enjoy the holidays. She said their goal is to make sure that every girl has the opportunity to have “the Girl Scout experience.”

“It’s unbelievable the response that we get from it,” Harrell said.

Girls at the party got hot cocoa, pizza, and got to decorate cookies and make holiday crafts.
