In remembrance of fallen veterans, Davenport students paid tribute on a significant anniversary.

On Friday, December 6, 2013 Davenport Central High School was presented with a plaque naming all Central alumnae who have died in action. The tribute was held in honor of the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

“It’s important to remember them because they gave the ultimate sacrifice that anyone could ever give; giving their life for another person,” said Cadet Lt. Roy Schindler from Central High School. “Their families remember them and their friends remember them but not the public so they just needed their honor back at Central where it belongs.”

The attack happened on December 7, 1941. Roughly 2,400 soldiers, Marines and sailors were killed that day according to a report by ABC News.
