ROWVA High School wins $25,000 grant for safe driving

ROWVA High School students were surprised with a grant as a reward for their pledge to safe driving.

According to a spokesperson from State Farm, on Thursday, December 5, 2013 students were presented with a $25,000 grant for their school for being a winner of the Celebrate My Drive program created by the insurance company.

After the school generated enough safe driving commitments to the Celebrate My Drive program, State Farm presented the money to the school. At the assembly a State Farm representative announced that the school will use 10 percent of the funds to support keeping local teen drivers safe.

A spokesperson from Celebrate My Drive noted on their Facebook page that winning schools were notified in advance so they could make surprise announcements like ROWVA’s school administrators did. All winners will be officially announced on Monday, December 9.
