Kewanee woman killed in head-on crash

A woman from Kewanee, Illinois died after the car she was driving collided with two other vehicles near the Henry-Stark county line.

A woman from Kewanee, Illinois died after the car she was driving collided with two other vehicles near the Henry-Stark county line.

The wreck was reported at about noon Thursday, December 5, 2013.

Police said 79-year-old Sally Harper was driving a 2008 Honda Accord northbound on Route 78 when her car crossed the center line and sideswiped an oncoming Ford Explorer.  Harper's car then collided head-on with a southbound Chevy Tahoe.

Harper and her passenger, Wayne Harper, were taken to an area hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Peoria.  Sally Harper later died.

The driver of the Explorer, a 75-year-old man from Kewanee, was hospitalized in Kewanee.  Police did not indicate whether the driver of the Tahoe suffered any injuries.
