Beauty Brands is ready for it's ribbon-cutting Friday morning. It's the first store to open in Davenport's new Elmore Marketplace.

The one-stop-shop for hair, skin and make-up products is located on Elmore Avenue, just north of the Lowe's.

Beauty Brands is a national chain with one other Iowa store in Clive. Store Manager Tammy Bell tells News 8 that the company is drawn to developments like the Marketplace.

"I think that's the way retail areas are going," Bell explained. "People don't want to be stuck in a mall anymore. People want to drive up, pop into the stores and go on their way."

Right now at least seven other stores are planned in the development, including Banana Republic Outlet, Gap Outlet, Carter's, Pier One, DSW, Charming Charlie and Lane Bryant. The developer won't specify which store will open next. The timeline is for another two to open in February. Beauty Brands is thrilled to be the first.

"I like being the first one out of the gate," said Bell. "It takes some pressure off being established, and everyone will know where we are at by then."

The store will open Friday morning, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. On opening night between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., Beauty Brands will donate 25 percent of proceeds from its new location’s sales to Winnie’s Place, a shelter program in the Quad Cities that assists women and children who are homeless or victims of violence.
