A Christmas celebration dating back to the 1800s took place in Moline at the start of December.
On Sunday, December 1, 2013 a historic holiday celebration was held at the Butterworth Center and Deere-Wiman House. Families were invited to the 19th Century Christmas to enjoy decorations, live musical performances, a visit with Santa, and more.
Visitors were welcome to tour the Deere-Wiman House, built in 1972 for John Deere’s son Charles Deere. Piano and choir performances were held in the historic home of Katherine and William Butterworth, today's Butterworth Center.
"I think a lot of people come here to start the holidays," said Butterworth Center Executive Director Susan Staack. "This year it's right after Thanksgiving; every year it follows closely behind and it starts Christmas."
Refreshments were served all day and admission was free.
