Second crash on I-74 blocks Illinois-bound traffic

Iowa Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed the roadway clear of blockages shortly before 4:20 p.m. The IDOT website confirmed that "the roadway is reopened to traffic."

Illinois-bound lanes of I-74 were blocked after a wreck at Middle Road and Locust Street in Bettendorf.

A second wreck after 3 p.m. at Exit 3: Middle Road and Locust Street caused eastbound lanes of the roadway to be blocked.

According to the Bettendorf Police Department the second wreck was a rear-end crash that happened as a result of the initial crash. The first crash happened around 2:45 p.m.

Four people were injured and taken to area hospitals, officials said.

Traffic cameras showed cars backed up past Spruce Hills Road around 4 p.m. (pictured below).
