Moline outdoor ice skating rink open to the public

Returning Thanksgiving weekend is the ice rink at Moline’s Bass Street Landing.

Returning Thanksgiving weekend was the ice rink at Moline’s Bass Street Landing.

After a fight to make the ice, the Quad City’s only outdoor public ice rink, Center Ice, reopened on Saturday, November 30, 2013.

Rink Manager Chad McDermott said it took a lot of battling and manpower to get the ice frozen correctly.

“It’s been a rough couple of weeks,” McDermott said. “We’re finally to the point where we’re excited about opening up."

McDermott said admission is $5 and an additional $3 if you are renting skates. There will be food and beverages on site and football games on TV inside.

The rink opens at 10 a.m. and periodically a Zamboni will come out and resurface the ice. For information on skate sessions call 309-517-1930.
