Annual holiday tour benefits Iowa charity

An Iowa pianist will be helping kick-off the holiday season with performances in the Quad Cities. Proceeds from his shows will benefit Camp Courageous in Iowa.

An Iowa pianist will be helping kick-off the holiday season while benefiting an area charity.

During his 11th annual Holiday Grande 2013 tour, Iowa-native Jim McDonough will make appearances in Davenport on Sunday, December 1 and Cedar Rapids on Saturday, November 30.

Proceeds from the show benefit Camp Courageous of Iowa, which is a care facility for people with disabilities. According to a spokesperson from the organization, McDonough’s tour has benefited Camp Courageous for the last eight years.

According to the Adler Theatre, the stage production features McDonough, an International Steinway Artist, and his 14-piece orchestra and cast of singers and dancers. The crew will perform classic Christmas music and “other all-time favorites.”

The Saturday show in Cedar Rapids will be at the Paramount Theatre and the Sunday the show in Davenport will be at the Adler Theatre. Both shows begin at 2:30 p.m.

McDonough was born in Monticello, Iowa and played piano from a very young age. He graduated from Wartburg College in Iowa with a degree in Music Education and has since produced over a dozen CDs. For more about the Iowa-native, click here.
