Care center employees collect donations for tornado victims

After a devastating tornado ripped through Washington and Peoria, organizers set up a relief project at the Hope Creek Care Center. in East Moline

On Sunday, November 24, 2013, just one week after the disaster, three vehicles were loaded up with donations to take to tornado victims. The project was set-up by a group called Hope Creek Cares that was developed specifically for people who wanted to help this cause.

“As a Hope Creek Care Nurse, I mean, my job us caring and I think everybody in the community wants the opportunity to help out this community of Washington, Illinois,” said organizer Maggie Wadsager.

Boxes were loaded with personal hygiene products, toiletries, baby items, and other basic needs supplies. The group will be collecting unopened toys for kids in Washington until Saturday, December 14. They will be delivered on Sunday, December 15, according to Wadsager.
