A man known as Mr. Thanksgiving received a generous donation to help with the annual Thanksgiving feast he prepares.
On Friday, November 22, 2013 the Moline Police Benevolent presented Bob Vogelbaugh, Mr. Thanksgiving, with a $2,000 donation. The money will help Mr. Thankgiving put on his annual community Thanksgiving dinner at SouthPark Mall in Moline.
According to the Moline Police Department, throughout 2013, officers raised money to benefit any specific needs they discovered within the community. Each year nearly 300 turkey baskets have been provided to Moline families for Thanksgiving.
“In an attempt to reach more families and support a worthwhile tradition here in Moline, the Moline Police Benevolent is proud to announce their partnership with Bob and all the volunteers who make this event possible,” said a spokesperson from the Moline Police Department.
Vogelbaugh said the feast costs anywhere between $17,000 and $18,000, so every bit helps.
“It’s just more community involvement,” said Vogelbaugh. “I’m just always overwhelmed and I’m almost speechless and if you’d ask my friends they said that’s hard to believe but I am. I just think it’s absolutely wonderful and I can’t thank them enough.”
The meal is open to everyone and starts at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2013 in the food court at SouthPark Mall.
