Benefit concert held to help tornado victims

Styx and REO Speedwagon will be holding a benefit concert to help victims affected by damaging storms that ripped through the Midwest on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

The concert, Rock To The Rescue has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois.

Funds from the concert will be given to affected families in the central Illinois communities.

“In order to maximize charitable proceeds, the artists, along with numerous vendors, crew, and local staff have generously forgone any personal compensation for the evening,” according to information listed on the U.S. Cellular Coliseum’s website.

REO Speedwagon singer and guitarist Kevin Cronin said he was born in Illinois and considers REO Speedwagon to be “an Illinois band.”

“The word ‘Illinois’ is music to me,” Cronin said. “The utter devastation and human suffering in Washington, Illinois and the surrounding areas is heartbreaking.”

Tickets go on sale Saturday, November 23 at 10 a.m. They will be sold for $58, $43, and $28.  For ticket info, click here.
