A Davenport woman was sentenced to ten years in prison after she was found guilty of filing insurance claims after she set fire to her own home.
Police said Donna Jones, now 52, owned a home in the 500 block of South Concord Street when a fire happened in the house Sunday, May 6, 2012. Jones was reportedly the last person in the house before the fire happened.
Jones was charged in October 2012 with one count of second-degree arson and two counts of insurance fraud for claims she filed for damage to her property and for reimbursement for renting a house.
Court records show Jones did not testify at her trial held in early October 2013. Jones was found guilty on all three counts.
Court records show Jones was sentenced Friday, November 15, 2013 to ten years in prison for the arson conviction and to five years in prison for each of the insurance fraud convictions. Court records also show Jones planned to appeal the conviction.
