Red Cross donation drive raises more than $13,000

Thanks to generous donations across the Quad Cities and in the Galesburg area, more than $13,000 was raised in one day to help with Illinois tornado relief.

On behalf of everyone who will benefit from the Red Cross's Disaster Relief Fund, WQAD wants to thank viewers from across the Quad Cities and in the Galesburg area for donating to the Red Cross donation drive Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

Two days after deadly tornadoes struck in Washington, Illinois and other locations across the state, hundreds of you gave generously during a donation drive from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.  You brought donations totaling $6,381 to WQAD's studios and $7,018 to Galesburg's Red Cross office for a grand total of $13,399.

If you were unable to donate Tuesday, you can do so simply by texting REDCROSS as one word to 9-0-9-9-9 (a $10 donation will automatically appear on your next phone bill), by calling them at 1-800-RED-CROSS or by going to their website at redcross.org.
