Six people died in storms that roared across Illinois on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

The National Weather Service issued a preliminary estimate rating the tornado that struck Washington, Illinois an EF-4, with peak winds estimated between 170 and 190 miles per hour.

CNN reported Steve Neubauer of Washington, Illinois was killed in the storm.

Joseph Hoy, 80, and his sister, Frances J. Hoy, 78, died in New Minden, Illinois in Washington County.

Three people died in Massac County, Illinois as a result of Sunday’s storms.  CNN reported Illinois State Police confirmed Kathy George, 58; Robert Harmon, 56 and Scholitta Burrus, 63 died of blunt force trauma.
