A former Davenport man has been sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison for bank robbery.

According to U.S. Attorney Nicholas Klinefeldt, 48-year-old Elbert Karr, Jr. was sentenced to 151-months in prison on Friday, November 15, 2013 after he pleaded guilty to robbing the Family Credit Union in Davenport.

Klinefeldt said that on October 22, 2012 Karr presented a note demanding money at the Family Credit Union, was given cash and left the bank.

Previous reports indicate that Karr was arrested later that evening after he led state police and sheriff’s deputies on a chase that ended with a crash in Cedar County, Iowa. The semi tractor Karr drove in the pursuit had been reported stolen in Davenport.

After he is released from prison, officials say Karr has been ordered to serve three years of supervised release, must pay $2,920 in restitution and $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.
