Bettendorf High School won three out of five games in the semifinals to earn their spot in the 2013 Class 5A Iowa High School Volleyball championship.
Bettendorf faced Ankeny Centennial in the semifinals Thursday, November 14, 2013 at U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
Bettendorf rallied to win the first game 25-23. They also took game two 25-22.
After that strong start, though, the Bulldogs dropped game three, 25-17 and fell again in game four, 25-21.
Game five would be a thriller with a tight score and close finish. The game ended in an exciting 16-14 win for Bettendorf.
The Bulldogs advance to face Des Moines Dowling for the Class 5A state championship Friday, November 15, 2013.
School officials said a Welcome Home ceremony was planned to honor the team, coaches and supporters. The ceremony was set for 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the commons area at Bettendorf High School.
